Please join us at 5.00 PM on this Sunday (April 13, 2008) for celebrating the appearance of Lord Ramachandra, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, at the ISKCON Columbus weekly Sunday feast program! This celebrations will be held at the First United Unitarian Church (UU church) located at:
First Unitarian Church,

Millions of years ago in the age called Treta-yuga, the Supreme Personality of Godhead Lord Sri Krishna descended as a king: Lord Rama, or Ramachandra. His adventures were written down by the poet Valmiki in the 24,000-verse Sanskrit scripture Ramayana, the world’s oldest book.
The purpose of Lord Rama’s advent is to attract us conditioned souls to the timeless, transcendental path of Bhakti-yoga, devotional service, and to establish the principles of religion, morality and righteousness. By reading the Lord’s pastimes in the Srimad-Bhagavatam or Ramayana, and by hearing of His exceptional prowess, even the unsophisticated soul becomes drawn to the blissful security of genuine spiritual life.
Since time immemorial each of us embodied souls has been revolving through the cycle of rebirth—samsara. To deliver His servants trapped in the net of maya (illusion), God comes Himself or sends His avatar for our salvation from the delusion of material ignorance. Attraction to the lotus feet of the Lord, acceptance of His divine shelter, and the joyful singing of His name open the door for going back home, back to Godhead. GAURA PURNIMA is the annual celebration of the appearance of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. “Gaura” refers to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s golden complexion, and “Purnima” refers to the full-moon night on which He appeared. In a special appearance, Krishna personally came in A.D. 1486 to Sridhama Mayapur, West Bengal, India as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and acted as His own devotee. He appeared in this world to spread love for Krishna through the congregational chanting of the holy names of the Lord. Sri Chaitanya’s teachings cover three main topics:
1. Knowledge of the soul’s relationship with Krishna.
2. The method of awakening that relationship.
3. The awakened state of that relationship (pure love of God).
Most of all he taught us that we can gain full enlightenment simply by chanting the holy names of the Lord:
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare

To celebrate his glorious appearance, festivals are held throughout the whole world every year, and especially at His birthplace - Sridhama Mayapur.

A discussion based on Bhagavad Gita 4:40 -- About the kinds of doubts in spiritual life...those that fuel the growth of the flame of knowledge, and those that want to extinguish it. Certain psychological doubts are defects of personality, and are not "logical" in the true philosophical sense. This basic attitude towards life, and the tug of war between trust and suspicion, is at the root of a person's worldview, his or her ability to develop deep relationships, and ultimately his spiritual destiny.

Lord Sri Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and His first expansion is Lord Balaram. Around 1474 in the village of Ekacakra, (present day West Bengal), this same Lord Balaram appeared as the son of Hadai Ojha and Mother Padmavati. He was so loved by the people of the village that all the pains of life seemed to disappear just by seeing Him. When the Lord was named some people wanted to call Him Nityananda, while others wanted to call Him Rama, so He was called Nityananda Rama.
Nityananda Rama is the eternal companion of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu the Supreme Lord. He is the original guru, and is known as the most compassionate incarnation of the Lord. One cannot attain the lotus feet of Sri Caitanya without first receiving the shelter of Lord Nityananda.
Please come and receive the mercy of Lord Sri Nityananda and get fired up through ecstatic association of senior disciples of His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada!
